Bear Creek Men's Golf Club

GENERAL INFORMATION
The Bear Creek Men's Golf Club was formed in 2003 to promote fun, competitive events for all levels of golfers.  The Men's Golf Club competitions are held weekly on Saturday mornings and are early shotgun start times that vary during the year, based on the sunrise time.  Start times and format are designated on the schedule.

Events are primarily individual stroke play, but can also include both 2-player and 4-player team events, a Match Play Championship in the Spring and a 36-hole Club Championship in December.

  • The Bear Creek Men’s Club members pay a reduced rate for Saturday Men's Club events

WEEKLY INDIVIDUAL STROKE PLAY GAMES & PAYOUT
There are two types of individual stroke play games, Flights and Skins

GAMES & FEES                                                                                   

For Flights, there are both Gross (based on actual score) and Net (based on handicap adjusted score) games.  All members must play in at least one Flight game.  The fee for each Flight game is $10.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                   

For Skins, there are both Gross (based on actual score) and Net (based on handicap adjusted score) games.  These games are optional.  The fee for each Skin game is $5. 

All members that play in any Net games MUST have a valid handicap                                                                                                                                     

Note that Men's Club game fees are in addition to the course green fee, and must be paid in cash BEFORE play begins.                                                                                                                                                                                                                     

PAYOUTS                                                                                                                                                                                 

For Flights, out of each $10 received, $1 goes to fund skill hole contests throughout the year, and year-end gifts and party.  The remaining $9 goes towards Gross Flight and Net Flight payouts respectively.  Flight payouts and the number of places paid out is based on the number of players in the flight.  Flight payouts are paid in Bear Creek Golf Complex Gift Cards, which can be redeemed for Green Fees, Golf Shop Merchandise, Range Balls, Golf Instruction, or Food and Drinks.                                             

For Skins, the entire $5 fee is applied to the Gross Skins and Net Skins payout respectively.  Skins payout is paid in cash.

USGA HANDICAP SYSTEM
The Bear Creek Men's Golf Club strictly enforces the handicap guidelines outlined in the USGA Handicap System. Member’s scores are posted by the Men’s Club. For more detailed information on the USGA Handicap System, please visit their website.

JOINING BEAR CREEK MEN'S GOLF CLUB
To join the Bear Creek Men's Golf Club, you are encouraged to use the online registration at The Arizona Golf Association (AGA) website www.azgolf.org and select "Bear Creek Men's Club Membership".  However, if you prefer, you can complete a membership application form and provide to staff at Bear Creek Golf Complex along with appropriate payment.

State Golf Associations

ARIZONA GOLF ASSOCIATION (AGA)
The Arizona Golf Association (AGA) was formed in 1923, and has grown to encompass over 400 clubs and 65,000 male golfers.  The Association's purpose is to promote the best interests and true spirit of the game throughout the State of Arizona.  The AGA strives to "Foster the enhancement and expansion of the game by leading in the development of member and information services, the promotion of opportunities for all who want to play, and the protection of the game's integrity and valued traditions."

ARIZONA WOMEN'S GOLF ASSOCIATION (AWGA)
The Arizona Women's Golf Association  (AWGA) was formed in 1924, and continues today with its mission "to promote and maintain the best interests and true spirit of the game of golf among women in Arizona."  The AWGA is a non-profit membership organization that promotes and administers women's golf programs in Arizona. The Arizona Women's Golf Association strives "to be the premiere women's golf association in Arizona, recognized nationally and locally as effective agents and advocates for women's golf."

SOUTHWEST SECTION PROFESSIONAL GOLF ASSOCIATION (SWSPGA)
The Southwest Section PGA is one of forty-one sections of the Professional Golfers' Association of America. Its boundaries include the state of Arizona and Clark County, Nevada. Within the Section is a Southern Nevada Chapter and a Southern Chapter to further facilitate programs within those areas. Their membership is a group of professionals dedicated to making golf a better game. They wear many hats; trained instructor, business manager, accomplished player, personnel manager, junior golf mentor, role model, community leader, rules authority, humanitarian, fund-raiser, and many more as these club professionals are responsible for the day to day activities at many of our golf facilities. The SWSPGA includes nearly 1400 PGA members and apprentices involved in the operations of more than 350 golf facilities.

JUNIOR GOLF ASSOCIATION OF ARIZONA (JGAA)
The JGAA's mission is to serve as the umbrella organization for providing, fostering and supporting comprehensive golf programs for youth in Arizona. In fulfilling this mission, the JGAA believes that, through participation the youth of Arizona will be encouraged to value honesty and integrity, develop perseverance, self confidence, patience, sportsmanship and enjoy the game of golf for a lifetime. At the Junior Golf Association of Arizona, they have a passion for junior golf and an appreciation of values inherent to the game such as honesty, integrity and respect.
