Perry High School opened in July 2007, and the athletic programs have developed swiftly.  Perry will graduate its first senior class in June 2010, and the influx of freshman students has moved the Boys Golf team up to Class 5A – Division II.  Lead by Coach John Lowery, the team is striving to win the state title in their first year of competition at this level.  Senior transfer students Jordan Lowery and Garrett Moss are the most accomplished players on this year’s team.  Playing for Queen Creek H.S., Lowery finished in 2nd place individually in the 2008 AIA Class 4A – Division II state championships, and his summer was highlighted by a runner-up finish in the Arizona Junior Match Play Championship.  Moss qualified for the 2009 US Junior Amateur, and finished tied for 7th place in the 2008 Utah Class 5A state championship before relocating to Arizona.  Returning from the 2008 Perry team are junior Jake Argento and sophomore Jacob Smith.  As a freshman, Smith led the team last year with a 4th place finish in the Class 4A – Division II tournament, only five shots behind Lowery.  If Perry can get consistent solid play from their fifth man, they could contend for the state title.
