Mike Barnett, Director of Instruction
Mike has been Director of Instruction at Bear Creek since opening day in December of 2000. Mike is a life member of the PGA of America and charter member of the Montana Golf Hall of Fame having won 11 Montana state championships. While playing on the Arizona State Sun Devil golf team he won the Phoenix Men's Amateaur and was a member of the prestigious Goldwater Cup Team. He graduated from ASU and had several years of professional playing experience on the Asian and Australian Tours as well as the PGA Tour Qualifying School. Mike has taught around the U.S. with the world's largest and one of America's Top 25 golf schools, the John Jacob's Practical Golf Schools. John Jacob's helped shape his core teaching philosophy of diagnosis, explanation, and correction. The use of video analysis is an integral part of his teaching process as well. Mike teaches at Bear Creek from October through late May. MIke can also be found teaching in his native Montana at The Ranch Club in Missoula from late May through September. Brian Calhoun, Teaching Professional
2009 U.S. Kids Golf Top 50 Kids Teacher
Brian Calhoun is originally from Carlsbad, New Mexico, and graduated from the Professional Golf Management Program at New Mexico State University. In 1994, Brian was elected to membership in the PGA of America, and he has always had a passion for providing the highest quality golf instruction.
Brian has taught at a variety of facilities, including Mauna Kea Resort in Hawaii, PGA West Resort and The Palms Golf Club in La Quinta, California. Mr. Calhoun enjoys teaching all aspects of the game, but as a former lead instructor with the Dave Pelz Scoring Game Schools, he has a particular expertise in teaching putting, chipping, pitching and bunker play. Drew Bashor, Assistant Professional
Drew Bashor is a native of Seattle, Washington, and played college golf at the University of Puget Sound before completing his education at the Golf Academy of America campus in Chandler, AZ. Drew is an accomplished player, and has competed in tournaments across the U.S. and Canada. After graduation, Drew completed an internship under PGA Tour Academy director of instruction John Stahlschmidt at TPC Scottsdale, and his passion for understanding the golf swing was sparked by his long-time swing coach and former PGA Tour player Jeff Coston. Drew passed his Playing Ability Test in November 2009 on his first attempt, shooting 69-72 – 141 (-3) at Ahwatukee CC, and is currently pursuing membership in the PGA of America.
